DIY Tools

So you just bought a parting tool, and when you try it, you realize that you wasted your money. The blade is so poorly clamped to the holder that there is no way of using the tool for parting or for making external grooves. The quality of the  blade is acceptable; what's needed is a new holder.

Carbide inserts are inexpensive, but the corresponding tool holders exceed your hobby budget. DIY holders come to the rescue.

Holder for SCGT09 inserts. This tool has seen heavy use since I built it, because it can be used for turning, facing, and chamfering.

Holder for 1 mm parting inserts -- just perfect for machining tiny parts.

Holder for the small Horn turning tools.

I transsected such a holder to check how well the contour matches that of the turning tool.

Some components I made for relatives and friends.
Holder for large parting blades.

Some replacement parts I made: Attachment for the puppy dial.

First attempt to build a tap -- obviously only for tapping plastics. Wouldn't it have been a waste to buy a commercial tap for tapping PG7 just once?
