Description:

Before scrapping an old tape recorder (a "Tesla B57"), I removed its large, heavy flywheel including the excellent bearings. I elected to design an engine kind of "around" this flywheel.  Quickly noticing that a base made from aluminum profiles would not be sturdy enough, I built one from brazed 4 mm steel sheets instead. The cylinder mount was made from a single piece of stock. The holes were bored on the lathe and the holder was slotted. Both cylinders are secured by tightening a screw which compresses the slot. Two oblique holes inside this cylinder mount connect the cylinders.
